Community Barn Service 4 pm at the Rodawold Farm on Balou Road in Wilmington. Candlelight Service at Grace, 10 pm. No service on Sunday morning.

Bring Rover, Spot and Fluffy!  Come back after 9 am worship, bringing your pet at 10:40 for a special blessing.

Monday morning Bible Study resumes

September 12, meet at 11 am for weekly Bible study in the education wing library.

Labor Day weekend, outdoor worship

September 4, 9 am, make worship part of your holiday.  We will be gathering outside that day, our last outdoor worship for the summer.  In case of inclement weather, we will gather in the sanctuary.  Feel free to bring lawn chairs or blankets.

2011-2012 Confirmation Classes start up

Wednesday, September 7, 6 pm, meet at church, all students going into 6th 7th and 8th grades, along with their parents.

Rev. Dr. John Nunes visiting on August 28

The president of Lutheran World Relief will be at Grace for the 9 am worship service with Holy Communion and Confirmation.  He will stay to share with us, some of the stories of the important work done by this agency.  Stay for a brunch in his honor, following the forum time.

Boundary waters adventurers return safe and sound

The trip was a success, and we will see pictures and hear stories of their great adventure on Sunday, August 21, 9 am.

Chuch directory update in the works

Thanks to all who have made appointments Aug 1 and 2...and for those of you who have already had pictures taken.  This will be a great directory with your support.  If you couldn't fit in the Monday-Tuesday schedule this week, you will get another chance on August 31, a Wednesday.  Appointments go from 2-9pm.  Call the church office to pick an exact time.  Remember, $25 gift certificate with the free directory, in case you want to buy Christmas cards, wallet size photos, or just something for your friends or family.

Boundary Waters Send-off

approximately 10:20 am on Saturday, August 6.  Join kids and parents as they get prayers for safe travels and faith-expanding experiences in Minnesota.  Pray for healthy interactions with nature and favorable weather.

Grace's Relay for Life Team

is gearing up for the big event, August 6 at the new High School track in Wilmington.  This is an American Cancer Society yearly event and Grace has an enthusiastic team ready to do some serious fund raising.  Visit our website:  www.relayforlifewilmingtonbraidwood.com.  Click on "donate."  Find Grace Lutheran's team.  You can donate by credit card to the team as a whole, or to a specific team member.  Or you can send a donation via mail to the church, 907 Luther Drive, Wilmington, IL 60481, addressed to Grace's Relayers, checks made out to American Cancer Society.  Thanks!

Back to School Fair

Grace has participated in this worthwhile cause for many years.  This year we are being asked to collect spiral notebooks.  Watch for sales...bring your donations to the church before July 24.

Boundary Waters trip approaching

Several of Grace's youth, a couple of their friends and some adult chaperones will head toward the Minnesota - Canada border for an exciting week of experiencing nature at it's finest.  They could still use a little financial help.  Purchase "stock" or see Pastor Chris to help out.

New Directory pictures

August 1 and 2 are the days set aside for photography.  Members will be contacted to set a time for an appointment at your convenience one of those two days.  Directories are free to all who have a photo taken.  Olin Mills is also giving $25 certificates to use on any of their products. There will be "specials."

Confirmation Camp this week

Annual event that takes youth soon to be confirmed, just a little deeper into their faith lives.  Augustana College setting is a great adventure.

Community Vacation Bible School

Held at Grace this year.  Awesome group of teachers, helpers and "surfers" helped spread the Good News.  Pictures will be posted on facebook and the website.

Easter morning Festival Worship 9 am

There will be special music and trumpets, a powerful proclamation and all your favorite Easter hymns.  Bring your family and bring a friend to Easter worship this year. Youth will be serving breakfast from 7:30 to 8:45..

Good Friday, April 22, 7 pm

At our Tenebrae (Darkness) service this evening, we will remember Christ's suffering and death on the Cross.  We will hear again, Jesus' last words from the cross and experience a powerful time of prayer and adoration.

Maundy Thursday April 21

Service with Holy Communion at 7 pm.  Join us as we remember Christ's Last Supper with his disciples.  We also observe a foot washing as part of our worship. The somberness of the stripping of the altar contributes to making this an inspirational evening.

April 17 Palm Sunday 9 am

Worship, Holy Communion, distribution of palms, singing, praying, fellowship.  Holy Week begins.  Join us in preparation for Easter Sunday.

Final Wednesday evening Lenten Service

April 13 at 7 pm.  Stay for refreshments sponsored by the youth for their trip to the Boundary Waters in August.  Choir practice follows...all voices needed. Next midweek services, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, April 21 and 22, both at 7 pm.

Clean up days scheduled

Many hands make for light work.  April 9 and 16 you can join the properties team to help get the church spruced up for Easter.  There is plenty of work...inside and outside.  11 am until 2 pm.

April 6 Grace Youth present skit

Youth will be delivering a message during the 7 pm Lenten worship service on Wednesday.  Stay for fellowship time.

Lent begins March 9 with Ash Wednesday

Come worship at 7 pm, imposition of ashes and Holy Communion will be celebrated. Stay afterwards for some fellowship time. Worship every Wednesday during Lent, 7 pm.  Fellowship will follow every service.

Ash Wednesday approaching

Join us March 9 at 7 pm for worship, holy communion and distribution of ashes.  Regular midweek lenten services are on Wednesdays at 7 pm with fellowship time following, until Holy Week.

Snow related cancellations

Wednesday, no confirmation class and no choir practice.  Sunday:  wide open for worship at 9 am.  Come and bring a friend.
